ESI-Qq-TOF mass spectrometer for small molecule identification, metabolomics and proteomics

Core facility supports both, internal and external researchers either in a form of proteomics services or via res. collaborations. Our services are tailored to biomedical applications (analysis of  biofluids, cells lines, tissues ...) and our speciffic focus lies in field of imaging mass spectrometry.  Most of our requests are processed in full service mode, but our MALDI-TOF-TOF analyzer is accessible in self-service mode as well (users with training only). Besides "hands-on" services we offer mass spec counselling and/or results interpretation.

Proteomics Center at Vilnius University Institute of Biochemistry is dedicated to perform proteomics analysis starting from sample preparation by 1D and 2D electrophoresis as well as chromatography and subsequent mass spectrometry protein identification and quantitation. Proteomics center is equip with MALDI TOF-TOF mass spectrometer used mainly for protein identification from gel samples, Q-trap 4000 hybrid triple-quadruple and linear trap mass spectrometer for protein posttranslational modification analysis and recently acquired advanced Higher Definition Mass Spectrometer Synapt G2 for label-free high throughput differential proteome analysis. Synapt G2 HDMS mass spectrometer consists of a sample preparation component chromatograph nanoACQUITY UPLC system, Waters directly connected to the mass spectrometer and software for data analysis.

The equipment is used for magnetronic deposition of metals (chromium and gold) on various film thickness under pressure control. Chamber volume is 75 liters; Sampler holder - 30 cm in diameter; Magnetron target size (diameter) 50.8 mm wit the deposition chimney; Heating up to 350 ˚C; Basic chamber pressure 2x10-7 Torr.

The equipment is used to study protein-ligand association, interaction of proteins (peptides) with phospholipid membranes and adsorbtion of biomolecules. Baseline noise < 0.0001 degeree. Refractive index interval from 1.30 to 1.55, Refractive index resolution 10-6; Sensor material - BK-7; Dynamic range 4 degrees.

The equipment is used to cover various surfaces by the rotating thin layer coating method. Samples size between 3 mm to  150 mm in diameter. Speed maximum 12000 rpm.

The equipment is used to produce nanometric layers from amphiphilic molecules. Bath size 50x190 mm, Langmuir subphase volume 37 mm. Surface pressure measurements and controls is automated.

The equipment is sed to evaluate hydrophilicity / hydrophobicity of surfaces. Contact angle measurements in  1-180 degree range. Angle resolution 0.1 degree. Positioning - mechanical.

The system is used to produce micropipettes and capillaries with the tips of up to 0.3 mm thick and 6-10 mm long. Capillary radius up to 0.3 mm, accurate temperature control.
